Looking to vend at Howloween? This page covers vendor hours, table costs, rules, application steps, and frequently asked questions for Dealers Den, Artist Alley, and the Afterdark Market.

Vendors from outside of Canada should make sure they are in compliance with the requirements to sell their wares in Canada. There are no temporary business license requirements to sell in BC.

Table Costs

Sizing

  • Standard table - 6 ft x 2 ft
  • Standard half table - 3 ft x 2 ft
  • Corner table - one 6 ft x 2 ft table and one 4 ft x 2 ft table in an L shape
  • Booth - details to be finalized, minimum 8 ft by 6 ft with a combination of 8 ft, 6 ft, and 4 ft tables available

All prices are for the full event. There will be no partial booking options due to demand and limited space.

General Information

Vendor Space Notes

  • Due to demand, no vendor will be given more than one table in any single vendor area. You may apply for tables in multiple areas.
  • The event does not guarantee Wi-Fi service, but we will make our best effort to provide it. Please come prepared with a backup option if necessary.
  • Electricity is not guaranteed but we will attempt to provide it. Please list any power requirements in your application.
  • If there are more applications than we have space for, table spaces will be awarded by committee.
  • Dealers Den will be in a secured room and will only be open to badge holders. Room is locked after hours but not actively monitored during that time.
  • Artist Alley will be in a public area and will not be secured.
  • Afterdark Market will be in a secure room and will only be open to badge holders. Government-issued photo ID is required because this is an 18+ only space.
  • During hours of operation, do not leave your wares unattended. We will not be responsible if things go missing.
  • Dealers Den vendors may leave their table set up throughout the event. Artist Alley and Afterdark Market vendors must take down their setup at the end of each day.
  • Please inform the Dealers Den lead if you are leaving or need to step away. If you leave your table for more than one hour without informing the lead, we will assume you have left and notify a waitlisted person that a table is open.
Rules

Vendor Spaces - General Rules

Failure to comply with any of the rules below may result in you being asked to leave the vendor space without a refund. Repeated or severe offenses may result in temporary or permanent bans from vending at future events.

  • You must be registered as a vendor with the event to sell any products at Howloween. You may only sell products during the specified hours for your vending area.
  • You may only sell content you are legally allowed to sell in BC, Canada.
  • Pirated, copyright-infringing works, and similar items may be requested by staff to be taken down.
  • Any material containing violent, gorey, and/or sexually explicit depictions must not be accessible to minors, including literature. Such material must be kept out of view. You are responsible for ensuring you do not sell such content to minors and must check ID.
  • Food and drink are not permitted to be sold at Howloween.
  • AI-generated artwork is not permitted to be sold at Howloween.
  • Keep your space tidy, organized, and free of garbage or debris. If you require assistance, speak to the Dealers Den lead.
  • Be respectful to other vendors. This includes, but is not limited to, bullying, harassment, slander, and violence.
  • Your display must not interfere with other vendors' space or with any aisles or access points in the Dealers Den.
  • Animals that are not certified service animals are not permitted within vendor spaces. Service animals must not cause disruptions to other vendors or patrons.
  • You may have one assistant to help at your table. They must be registered for the event and should be indicated on your application.
Specific Rules

Artist Alley

  • You must be registered with the Vendor lead to vend in Artist Alley. Even if there are empty tables, you cannot set up without having registered and paid for that space.
  • You may not start sharing a space without first informing the Vendor lead.
  • You may not attach anything to the hotel walls.
  • Your display must not disrupt the hallways.
  • Power is not available for Artist Alley tables.
Specific Rules

Afterdark Market

  • As the Afterdark Market is an 18+ only space, you may display material that contains violent, gorey, and/or sexually explicit depictions.
  • No material depicting underage characters, pre-made or custom, in adult situations is permitted to be sold at Howloween. This may also include characters that are visually underage but stated to be over the age of consent. "Aged up" depictions may be permitted so long as it is clear the character is depicted as over the age of consent.
  • Any item meant to be inserted, penetrated, or otherwise interact with the human body, such as sex toys, must be clean and sanitary at the time of purchase.
  • You must provide opaque packaging for your wares so customers can transport items out of the Afterdark Market discreetly.
Applications

How to Apply

Before the Event

  1. Register yourself for the event.
  2. Submit your application using the appropriate link.
  3. Wait for our email to confirm whether you have received a spot. If you do not receive a spot, you will be placed on a waitlist.
  4. Reply to the email to confirm your interest in taking your spot.
  5. Follow the instructions sent to you to pay for your table, or pay at the event.
Dealer Den Application

At the Event

  1. Register yourself for the event.
  2. Speak to the Vendor lead to see if and when space is available.
  3. Pay cash to the Vendor lead.

Vendor FAQ

When can I apply?

Applications for vendor spaces follow this schedule:

  • Dealers Den opens July 12th at 12:00am, closes August 12 at 11:59pm, and decisions are announced soon after.
  • Artist Alley and Afterdark Market open dates are to be determined.

How many tables will there be?

The Dealers Den will have 26 standard tables, 4 corner tables, and 3 booths available. Artist Alley will have 7 tables available. The final number of Afterdark Market tables is still being determined, but there will be a minimum of 12 tables available.

Can I still get a table at the event?

Yes, but depending on the amount of advanced bookings, space will be very limited. Only Artist Alley and Afterdark Market have the possibility of at-event tables.

Can I split a table?

Yes. To keep things simple in the registration system, please have one person apply and list who they will be sharing with on the application.

I have accessibility concerns, can I still vend?

Absolutely. List your concerns on your application and we will do our best to cater to your needs.

I am not Canadian or not from BC. Can I still vend?

In most cases, yes. Vendors from outside of Canada should make sure they are in compliance with the requirements to sell their wares in Canada. There are no temporary business license requirements to sell in BC.
